Hello and welcome to LB Local. I put this site up as place where Long Beach residents and their neighbors could share events, concerns, thoughts, announcements- whatever neighbors might share with each other. Life is getting busier and more complicated it seems, so hopefully this site can help you to stay in touch with your surroundings and help foster a greater sense of community. Some of my own interests include art, cooking and the environment, so that's where I've started. I was a chef for 15 years, and for the last 7 or so I owned a catering company. Now I'm a stone sculptor and a stay-at-home dad. But I have a restless mind and too much energy so I dabble in a number of other things. 22/08 The Last Week at Oasis Coffeehouse

The Artwork of Scott Godfrey concludes this week here at Oasis. Be sure to stop in and see the beautiful creations of this talented artist.

Sat. August 26 6pm-10pm The Cal Heights Band returns with their covers of a wide range of music including the sounds of the Eagles, CCR, Van Morrison and others.

Sun. August 27 10am-1pm Join us for another wonderful special performance by members of The Poly High Jazz Quartet. You don't want to miss these talented young musicians.

Both Saturday and Sunday in appreciation to our wonderful customers, we will be serving hors d'oeurves throughout the day.

18/07 3 Chihuahuas

What is 3 Chihuahuas, you ask? Well, it's a unique name for a great local shop. My wife and I are re-doing our backyard and decided we needed some new pots. A friend told us to checkout "this place over there on Walnut." So I did. I met owner Daniel Nogales who gave me the brief tour of his unique little shop. Imagine terra cotta pots stacked ten feet high of every shape and configuration and you get the idea. Many are natural, unglazed pots but for those looking for color, there are plenty of those as well. And if you don't see a color or shade you need, just let Daniel know, he's the one that does all the painting. The selection was great, the service wonderful and the price spectacular. The only thing I didn't see were the 3 Chihuahuas. Check 'em out, they're located at 3276 Walnut Ave.
